Role

I handled all of the coding and in-engine work for this project. This included:

  • Created a cursor manager that can click and drag objects and interact with items in the environment or characters.

  • Created universal animations that were applied to every character to help bring the cast to life.

  • A score recording system (including a combo/bonus system for consecutive correct answers).

  • Used Unity's Particle System to provide player feedback and give a sense of reward upon completing the game.

Experience

This was my first experience participating in a Gam Jam and I found it to be extremely fulfilling.

It was exciting to see first hand just how much a small team is capable of accomplishing in an extremely short amount of time. Especially when they all feel motivated about the project.

Some of my favorite games have more lighthearted themes and/or worlds; games like Cave Story, Day of the Tentacle, Mario Odyssey, or Frog Detective to name a few. So it was really nice to work on something that lived a breathed a charming and "cartoony" style.

Video Editing

I used this software to create a gameplay trailer for the project. This taught me some foundational editing techniques for making content visually eye-catching.
